Tennis WBOP Prize-giving 3 May 2018

Tennis WBOP held their awards night on Thursday the 3rd May 2018 with special guest speaker Simon Rea.
As usual Tauranga Lawn did very well, and congratulations go to all those members who took home a trophy.

Corban Crowther won the “Senior male player of the year” award. Below are some of the highlights of his season:

  • Runner up – Tennis Europe Grade 3 (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
  • Quarterfinals – Tennis Europe Grade 1 (Duren, Germany)
  • Winner – Tennis Europe Grade 2 (Benidorm, Spain)
  • Ranked #1 14U Boys
  • Winner – TNZ 14U Junior Masters
  • Selected to represent NZ at #1 for December showdown in Melbourne, Australia
  • NZ Nationals Championships
    • 3rd 16U singles, runner up doubles
    • Runner up 14U boys singles, runner up doubles
  • Selected for the 2018 ‘NZ Junior Davis Cup Team’ to travel to Malaysia. (April)

Luis Luna won the “Western Bay of Plenty Coach of the year” award. This is a great result for both Luis and our club.

Jack Quilty won the “Most promising player at the Residentials” award. Well done Jack.
